Bowie Library
Bowie Library
The mission of Lamar CISD Librarians is to create a physical and digital environment in which our students, staff, and community can strengthen their natural inquisitive nature, foster a love of reading, and serve as a collaborative resource for teachers and staff in developing and delivering powerful learning experiences across all curricular areas.
- The library is open Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. until 2:40 p.m.
- Students visit the library every week to checkout books and library classes are conducted for all grade levels.
- Students can also visit individually as needed, with their teacher's permission.
- Students are permitted to check out two books per week.
- Students may not check out more books unless the previous ones are returned.
Join the Bowie Dragons Library Birthday Book Club
The Bowie Dragons Library Birthday Book Club is a great way to add new books to our library collection while celebrating your child’s birthday. Contact Mr. Leasure for more information.
Library Activities
The library sponsors a book fair in the fall and an additional book fair in the spring. The proceeds from these book fairs help to purchase titles to add to the existing collection and fund reading incentive programs. The library also sponsors the Bluebonnet Reading Incentive Program.
Volunteer
Library volunteers are an essential part of our program. They help in running the circulation desk, labeling and shelving books, which allows the librarian to devote more time to teach children the valuable skills of enjoying literature and becoming information masters. Please contact Mr. Leasure, if you are interested in volunteering.
Damaged Books
When a book is returned damaged beyond repair, the replacement cost of the book will be charged. Damage to library materials includes but is not limited to: spills from food, drink or other substances, damage to cover or spine, cutting or tearing pages, writing with pencil, pen, markers, etc.
