Important Update

Texas House Bill 1481

In compliance with Texas House Bill 1481 and the Lamar CISD Student Code of Conduct, there is an important update to the personal communication device policy.

All devices must be turned off and put away before entering the building in the morning.
All devices must be kept in a backpack; not in pockets.
All devices must be completely out of view for the entire school day until the last bell rings at 3:10pm.

Personal communication devices include:

Cell phones
Smart watches
Non-LCISD laptops, tablets, and iPads
Bluetooth headphones/earbuds
Gaming devices with internet capacity

Students who do not follow the expectations will receive consequences in line with the LCISD Elementary Student Code of Conduct.

Morning Procedures

Doors will open at 7:15.

Instruction in class begins at 7:45 each morning, so it is important that your child is on campus and ready to learn on time every day.

After 7:45, you need to walk your student into the front office and they will be counted tardy unless there is a documented excuse.

Transportation

Please continue to complete your transportation forms if you would like your student to ride the bus this school year.

Afternoon Transportation Changes

All afternoon transportation changes mut go directly through the front office. Classroom teachers are not able to accept phone calls or emails about transportation changes. Please call the front office at 832-223-1200 or click on the link below to notify us of a transportation change by 2:00pm.

ID Badges

It is the expectation that every student in the district, and every Bowie Dragon, wear their ID badge around their neck every single day. We will have surprise checks where students can earn PBIS points for having their badges around their neck.

Your Child's Character Counts!

This year at Bowie, every student will become part of a "house" team that matches one of the Character Counts traits. Students will earn PBIS points for modeling the Character Counts traits in their behavior around campus. They will be able to use their points for rewards at school, and the December Super Store. Best of all, your child's points will be added to their house total for house competitions each 9 weeks. Houses will have reward parties at the end of each 9 weeks with the winning house getting a special reward.

Lunch Visitors

While students adjust to routines and procedures, we will not allow lunch visitors on campus for the first two weeks of the school year. Reservations will open on August 25th.

Vaccinations

Vaccines are safe and lifesaving. Your child may have fallen behind in required vaccinations over the last year. If your child needs vaccines for next school year, Memorial Hermann Clinic can provide no cost vaccinations for students who are uninsured or have Medicaid. Please call the Memorial Hermann Terry Clinic at 281.238.0852. Otherwise call your regular primary care physician.
